Veterans 2009 Memorabilia Video

A different kind of post today. Back in 2009 my family's charter bus business partnered up with the local American Legion to create a trip for veterans of all wars to be able to see the memorials before the veterans were unable to travel. The trip was designed for veterans that didn't want to fly but still wanted to travel. When they came back I compiled some video and pictures together into one video. I won't lie it took forever to get the timing right, and editing took approximately 45+ hours to get the video compiled using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6. However, I wanted to acknowledge that all copyrights to the music belong to the artists and was used solely from my music library for the purpose of this video as a memorabilia piece the speeches used were archived on public forums and the American flag images were also used in this video again solely as a memorabilia piece. To give credit where it is due I cited in the credits where everything that was not my own making can be found and am also listing it here:

Zentangle

I've wanted to learn a new method of drawing called Zentangle, and there are many books on the subject which I broke down and bought one however the descriptions of how to create the patterns didn't make much sense. Shortly after getting my book: The Art of Zentangle: 50 inspiring drawings, designs & ideas for the meditative artist by Margaret Bremner, Norma J. Burnell, Penny Raile, and Lara Williams a class was offered in my hometown so I took it and the instructor, Toni Whitney, helped make the descriptions of the patterns more understandable. She had us create what is called a Zendala:

But the reason I wanted to catch a true grasp of Zentangle for was the purpose of making some of my portraits stand out and I needed to learn quick as I have an art competition deadline that I wanted to submit a piece for. I took the portrait in a different direction than what most Zentangle inspired artists go, I was hoping it would look like the woman was body painted so I made the attempt to make her eyes and teeth look like they were still of an organic nature. I have recently submitted this piece so now I await the results.

Sorry for the long delay, switched jobs and now I have more time for artwork and I have Photoshop CS6 up and running at a 75% functioning program. Better than where I was before but still got to work out the kinks.

So let me introduce you to a project I've been working on here and there titled Coral. I originally wanted to go for an antique cameo look with a bit of a twist. However the art muse decided to take a slightly different direction.  

Coral

This piece is a combination of Copic Marker, Metalic Permanent Marker, Pen and Pencil. It started out as a Lunch Time Doodle in .5mm pencil, then I wanted to frame her in something not so traditional, but the Koi Fish looked out of place without a splash of water. A few adjustments here and there to the freehand sketches and scanning them into the computer and a couple test prints for practice with the Copic Markers, since I'm still learning how to use them another scan into the computer and touch-ups with Photoshop CS6 later Coral emerges from the depths to find balance.

Technical difficulties

I do apologize for the long absence, I've been struggling trying to find time to post as well as having issues with my software. When I am back up and running I will be posting more regularly.


In the meantime I am sketching and making sure everything is ready to post when I do get my software issues resolved, so for now here is a picture I sketched up for a co-worker, I do believe it fits with today's post as I did mention technical difficulties.

I'm still sketching away and trying to find a balance with the new day job to finish projects. Life happens but art must go on. In the mean time I was able to capture a couple of shots of the Friday the 13th full moon and a shot that was the following night.

Afternoon shots

I've had these stashed away since September 22, 2013. I was at my Grandfather's house at the edge of his property line and the neighbor's field when I took these shots from different angles. I like how vibrant they turned out.

Green Weekend

It's been a rare site here with the on again off again relationship that Old Man Winter and Mother Nature have been having lately. Finally some green grass, albeit a bit on the chilly side, but there was some sunshine and quite a bit less snow.
