Fun with Elle Magazine

When I took Digital Manipulation class at OSU with Brian Ireson as my instructor his most important lesson was that when you wanted to learn something new play.

While trying to keep my Photoshop skills in practice I wanted to get rid of the typeface on the cover of this Elle Magazine cover:

This image used here for visual information reference purposes only Elle magazine maintains the rights to the image.

The only way I could get rid of the typeface that I could think of was to use the smudge tool. I swished the cursor back and forth until the typeface was gone then I played around and created one of my favorite images, I don't like to play favorites but this is one of my favorite pieces.

Thank you to Padma Lakshmi for the wonderful pose and Elle magazine for the magazine cover to play with.

P.S. That is an actual buckeye leaf, that I used as a template for the logo, however I did not get the leaf selected well with the Photoshop selection tool and it looks like a different kind of leaf.

I am open to constructive criticism so that I may improve my skills as an artist. Thank you for viewing and enjoy.

More to come as I am still creating.
